It has been another busy but exciting term in 7RK as we have been completing lots of fun and creative activities across all areas of our learning.
In Literacy we continued to work through lots of different areas in spelling and grammar. We wrote our own evacuee letters and have really been working hard on improving our writing.
We have already covered so many areas of learning in our Numeracy lessons and have really loved taking part in lots of practical maths activities and Mathletics.
This term we were very lucky to continue PE lessons with our IFA coach, Ronan. We have really loved taking part in all the fun skill building games and activities to practice our ball control, throwing, running and jumping skills.
We continued to explore our topic about WW2, “Keep Calm and Carry On” and loved listening to music from the time period and creating our own Gas Masks in Art.
We also took part in lots of school events this term including Ditch the Dark Day, our Remembrance Day walk, Friendship Week, Christmas Jumper Day and our KS2 Carol Service.
Term 1A Highlights in 7RK
it has been a busy but exciting few months back at school in 7RK as we have been completing lots of fun and creative activities across all areas of our learning.
In Literacy, we have been practicing our spelling, grammar and comprehension but we especially love playing games to reinforce our learning like the homophone and homonym games in our pictures below.
We have already covered so many areas of learning in our Numeracy lessons supported by our Busy Ants activities but a particular favourite so far has been working through Shape and Space activities connected to the nets and volume of cubes and cuboids. We loved creating and designing our own cube and cuboids models as well as using the multi-link cubes to solve volume problems.
This term we have been very lucky to have the opportunity to attend PE lessons with our IFA coach, Ronan. We have really loved taking part in all the fun skill building games and activities to practice our ball control, throwing, running and jumping skills.
Our topic this term is called “Keep Calm and Carry On” and looks at conflict in our world past and present. A particular focus has been on WW2 and we have loved learning about evacuees, rationing and the London Blitz. It was great fun creating our own pieces of WW2 Collage Art to depict the fires over London.
In Art, we also loved experimenting with new mediums such as pastels to create self-portraits inspired by the Mona-Lisa which are now proudly hanging in our class art gallery!
We are really looking forward to returning to school after half term and continuing with more fun and exciting activities to support our learning in 7RK!
Our Class Charter
As we are a Rights Respecting School, each year when we come together as a new class we begin by creating our Class Charter.
We looked closely at the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and discussed the rights that we all have and why these are important. We then decided on the most important ones for us which help ensure that our school remains a safe and happy place where our best learning can take place. We understand that with our rights come responsibilities in order to ensure that these rights are respected and we picked out some key responsibilities for each right. Finally, we all signed our class charter as a way of saying that we agree to show that we will all endeavour to respect these rights and responsibilities throughout the year. As our classroom has a Hollywood theme we got to do this by signing our autographs, which was pretty cool!
