Eco Week

During Eco Week we took part in a variety of activities.

We planted a class sunflower seed. We hope ours grows as tall as us.

We created bug hotels in the forest.

Coding Week

As part of Coding Week we had to write and programme a code into BeeBot.  We had to work together to create the code and to test the code.  It was great fun but we had to concentrate to make sure we didn't leave out a step.

Science Week 2019

As part of Science Week we took part in a variety of activities.  We looked under the ground to investigate what's under our feet.  We learnt all about dissolving. We planted seed potatoes. What a busy week we had.  Take a look.

World Book Day March 2019

For World Book Day we dressed up as a character from a book. Take a close look.  Can you spot anybody you know?

Term 2B Yummy Yummy

This term we are thinking about our favourite foods and where they come from.  We read the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

As part of our World Around Us we tasted apples. We looked at the skin and the seeds.  We chose which apple we preferred.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

In Year 1AH we like to connect our learning. We read the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar.  During Outdoor Play we drew pictures of fruit bowls.  In Numeracy we continued caterpillar patterns. In Literacy we created a bubble map to write about the caterpillar.  In World Around Us we learnt a rhyme about a caterpillar turning into a butterfly.  All in 1 day in P1AH.

Happy Valentine's Day from P1AH.

Term 2A

This term our topic is 'People Who Help Us'.

We have been thinking about the jobs we would like to do when we grow up.  Come and have a look at our gallery.

Emergency Services Vehicles

We made emergency services vehicles as part of our Home Task. In class we told our friends all about who would use our vehicle and how we made it.  Great fun was had by all.  We are a very creative class.

Waterproof materials.

We discussed how the uniform for a fireman should be waterproof.  Miss Hemphill showed us 5 different materials. We had to predict which one would be waterproof. Then we tested each one to see if it is waterproof. We discovered that plastic is the best material as the water ran off it. One person at the table had the job of being a recorder. We love investigative science in our room.

Term 1B

This term our topic is 'All About Me'.

We have been learning the names of our body parts and singing 'Head, shoulders, knees and toes'. During PE we played a body part game with a partner.  Miss Hemphill called out a body part and we could only touch each other using that part. It was tricky but fun!!! Have a look.

All About Me posters

During Play Based Learning we worked together as a team to create a poster.  We drew around a team member. We asked the team member questions about themselves and Miss Hemphill wrote what they said.  We then painted our posters. Don't they look great.  We are extremely proud of how        well we worked together.

Elmer the Patchwork Elephant

As part of our topic we have been thinking about what makes us special.  Elmer is special because he is different from all the other elephants.  We are all unique and that's             what makes us special.

During Literacy Hour we have been enjoying Elmer stories.  We used this to experiment with writing. We copied under modelled writing and we created our own stories about Elmer. Take a look!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

We helped Miss Hemphill to decorate our class Christmas Tree.  We talked about Christmas traditions in our houses. We put the stars on the tops of the trees and eat candy canes.

Each of us made a tree decoration during Play Based Learning. We took it in turns to hang our decorations on the tree.

All About P1AH

We have sorted ourselves for lots of different criteria. We are able to talk about who is similar to us and who is different from us.

Term 1A

We have been learning the nursery rhyme 'Hickory Dickory Dock'.  We helped Miss Hemphill to write two new verses. Miss Hemphill gave us some words and we had to decide if they rhymed with 'two' or 'three'.  We then had to use our cutting and sticking skills to make a Hickory Dickory clock.

Maths Week

Major Tom came to tell us what we needed to make a good astronaut. We need good eyes, strong bones, a good liver and a space rocket.  We played an action game to remember all of this. We think it would be exciting to go into space!!
