The Model is situated at the northern edge of Ballymoney. Current enrolment is approximately 352 pupils. In addition to fourteen mainstream classes, the school includes a Learning Support Centre catering for the needs of children with Speech and Language difficulties.
Facilities within our school building include:
• 15 classrooms
• computer suite
• library areas
• assembly / P.E. hall
• dining hall with stage
• medical room
Outside, pupils have access to:
• Three large playground areas
• Enclosed pond
• Woodland area
• Extensive grassed areas
Beyond the school gates, we explore learning opportunities within the locality of the town. Day trips are made further a field. In the summer term, Year 1 pupils enjoy a farm visit, first hand experience enriching classroom learning. Other educational visits include trips to Belfast Zoo, Ulster Folk and Transport Museum, Armagh Planetarium, Exploris, Somoerset Forest, Altnahinch Dam, Springhill House, Dunluce Castle and The Causeway School, to mention but a few.
The opportunity is open to Year 7 pupils to accept the challenge of a four day residential, multi-activity course at Bushmills Education Centre. This has proved to be a most popular and rewarding visit, especially in terms of personal development.
At Ballymoney Model, educational visits motivate our pupils, enhance their learning and bring the curriculum to life.
